GET TO KNOW ME

I am currently a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Georgia. I am originally from Oklahoma-- I earned my Bachelor of Science from Oklahoma City University. After graduating from college, I worked two summers for the Chicago Botanic Garden's Conservation Land Management internship. My first summer I worked for the Eagle Lake BLM field office in Susanville, CA; I worked as a Seeds of Success intern collecting native plant seed for use in restoration projects. My second summer I worked for the Grants Pass BLM field office in Grants Pass, OR; I worked as a rare plant survey intern, visiting populations of rare and endangered plants and assessing their health.

I decided to enter a PH.D. program so that I could climb the ranks of federal or state land management agencies and eventually oversee research and land use for federal or state land. I attended the University of California, Merced to earn my doctoral degree.

During my time at UC Merced, I was the editor-in-chief and President of the graduate science communication and outreach group RadioBio. I also am a graduate peer mentor and a student representative for my graduate group. I have mentored seven undergraduates through my lab, and have continued to mentor them once they graduate. I am committed to my studies, but I am also committed to increasing diversity and accessibility in STEM, but particularly in Ecology.

Outside of research, I love hiking and backpacking, biking, and reading. Lately, I love baking and birding, and I am currently an organizing member of the Atlanta chapter of the Feminist Bird Club.
